BEHLEN Steel Buildings Manitoba Export Award
On Wednesday March 23, 2016, BEHLEN was honored to accept the Manitoba Export Award for 2016 at the Canadian Manufacturing & Exports (CME) Gala Awards Dinner hosted at the RBC Convention Center in Winnipeg. The gala is held to celebrate Manitoba’s excellence in manufacturing and exporting where it is CME’s goal to recognize individuals and companies who have achieved notable success in initiating, improving, or growing a manufacturing business in Manitoba.
CME’s vision is to ensure that all current and future needs of manufactures are addressed through a range of both existing and new resources. CME works as a promoter and facilitator of these connections, making Manitoba the leading manufacturing and exporting location.
BEHLEN was excited to receive the Export Award which is granted each year to a company demonstrating excellence in expanding into geographic markets, and, through significant and sustained export sales.
BEHLEN’s ability to reach its international markets could not have been done without the time and dedication of its international Business Teams and all the support given to them from our plant in Brandon Manitoba.
The night started off with a brief photo session and cocktails before all the honorees of the night were piped into the reception at the convention centre to sit down for supper. Once the toasts were given out the meal was served and lots of laughs were shared and talk was exchanged. After the dishes had been cleared it was time to get down to business and hand out the hardware. Sean Lepper the Vice President and General Manager of BEHLEN Industries accepted the Export Award on behalf of all the employees who have helped make BEHLEN an internationally recognized brand around the world. One of the proudest accomplishments that BEHLEN has achieved international includes the largest convex-style frameless steel building in the world that can be found in Russia that holds an international FIFA size soccer field. It doesn’t matter if the building is big or small, BEHLEN is there to provide quality steel buildings to all of its international customers spanning across six continents.
BEHLEN’s international growth won’t stop here. BEHLEN will continue to support its international team by providing the best quality products to ensure that the BEHLEN name stands strong around the globe.
BEHLEN would like to thank CME Manitoba for recognizing all the hard work that we do around the globe and all the hardworking staff and volunteers that created such a wonderful evening for us and all the nominees. It is the mission of CME to strengthen the competativeness of Canadian manufacturers and exporters and to help them grow in domestic and international markets.

Press Release:
Brandon (MB) – March 4, 2016. BEHLEN Industries LP will be honored by accepting the Export Award at the Canadian Manufacturing & Exports (CME) 2016 Gala Awards Dinner hosted at the RBC Convention Center in Winnipeg, MB on March 23. This event is held to celebrate Manitoba’s excellence in manufacturing and exporting. CME seeks to recognize individuals and companies who have achieved notable success in initiating, improving, or growing a manufacturing business in Manitoba.
The Export award is granted each year to a company demonstrating excellence in expanding into geographic markets and through significant and sustained export sales. The awarded companies have achieved a certain degree revenue growth either through regular operations or the creation of additional product lines or the innovation of existing designs.
“The diversity of our product line empowers us to provide a variety of cost effective building systems to successfully approach international markets’ needs for industrial, commercial, recreational and institutional facilities” says Sean Lepper, Vice President & General Manager.
BEHLEN’s reach is anything but small. With landmarks such as the PEAK 2 PEAK gondola terminals used in the 2010 Olympic games, the largest convex style frameless building in the world which houses a FIFA certified soccer field in Siberia, or the roof of the Gangneung Arena in South Korea- to be used extensively in the upcoming 2018 Winter Olympics, BEHLEN’s reach is massive.
In 2015, BEHLEN revolutionized the pre-engineered steel building industry with the unveiling of our new robotic welding cell. While robots in manufacturing are nothing new, we combine the robot with a new combination of software and processes, enabling it to complete custom manufacturing jobs in a way that has not been done before.
Winning the 2016 Export Award is another recognition that BEHLEN Industries is proud to receive, showing our commitment to growing the Manitoba economy and sharing our talent with the world is not going unnoticed.
